Friends of St Michael's, East Coker
Helping to care for a remarkable place
St Michael and All Angels Church has stood at the heart of East Coker for nearly a thousand years. It has been a place of worship, a marker of life’s milestones, and a quiet witness to lives lived locally and far beyond this village.
Friends of St Michael’s exists to help care for this remarkable place, protect its heritage, and keep it open, welcoming and alive for future generations.
You do not have to attend church to be a Friend. Many people feel a connection with St Michael’s because they were married or baptised here, have family links to the village, admire its history, or simply care about heritage and community life
The Friends focus on:
-
Caring for the fabric and setting of the church
-
Supporting Project Beacon, our programme of accessibility, heritage and community improvements
-
Encouraging community use, including arts, cultural and heritage events
-
Helping ensure St Michael’s remains a living church and a shared community space
