Project Beacon

Project Beacon aims to put St Michael and All Angels Church at the heart of village life by making it a more accessible and flexible community asset.

  • We will create an open space that can be used for a variety of community and church activities, by removing some of the pews from the West end (the back) of the Church. Read more here.

  • We intend to make St Michael’s available to all, which will mean creating wheelchair access, refurbishing the existing path and improving the car parking. Read more here.

  • We plan to install a fully accessible WC, which will include a baby changing station, so that everyone can use and enjoy the church in comfort and with dignity, .

  • We will improve the energy efficiency of the church, to help the Church of England achieve is Net Zero target, to save money, and to make the church warmer and more welcoming.  To do this we will upgrade the very old and inefficient heating system and improve the entrances.

  • We are going to install a small, unobtrusive kitchenette/servery in the Southwest corner so we can provide refreshments and light catering to support events  .

  • We will improve access to, and the presentation of, the T S Elliot Memorial . Read more here.
